“April Jenkins was our son’s teacher in 2nd and 3rd grade. Mrs. Jenkins is a very loving and accomplished teacher who develops a personal relationship with her students and their families. She expects the best from her students, whom she refers to as scholars. She meets each student where they are academically and helps each reach their fullest potential. We feel very fortunate to have had her teach our son.”

“Mrs. Jenkins was my child’s teacher in third grade and her tutor after school and in the summer. My daughter, Sylvia, was having difficulty with reading, math and her overall confidence. Mrs. Jenkins spent time assessing Sylvia’s strengths and weaknesses and came up with a plan to improve her skills. Within very little time Sylvia had improved her reading and math skills and became more confident overall. Aside from teaching Sylvia skills, Mrs. Jenkins made her feel valued, competent, and loved. Sylvia often wanted to have more time with Mrs. Jenkins even when she was at school for summer camp. At times, instead of having fun playing with her friends she wanted to spend more time learning with Mrs. Jenkins. I believe it was because of how Mrs. Jenkins made her feel about herself. Mrs. Jenkins always greeted the children by calling them “scholars.” I always found it amusing to hear her say, “Good morning, scholars,” to a room full of little kids. However, I quickly learned she was speaking into their sweet little spirits communicating that they were smart, she believed in them and expected them to behave like scholars! In my opinion, Mrs. Jenkins is an effective tutor who gets results!”

Greetings,
“I am thrilled to have the opportunity to provide feedback regarding the teaching abilities for Mrs. April Jenkins. I have known her for a number of years and had the distinct pleasure of having her as a teacher for my son in 1st and 2nd grade.
To provide a bit of background, my son, Aiden, began kindergarten at the age of 4. Under his father’s guidance, Aiden was an early reader and academically prepared for the school structure. But, he was still 4 from a maturity perspective. Unfortunately, the teacher providing his kindergarten instruction was ill-prepared to deal with him individually. His academic achievement was well documented, but his strong personality did not conform to her expectations and as a result he was separated from his peers in the classroom and labeled by the administration. We quickly recognized that this environment was not developing him in a positive way.
In seeking a different school for him, I was blessed to cross the path of Mrs. Jenkins. I was immediately drawn by her nurturing personality and how she communicated her style of teaching which focuses on the individual talents and needs of each student. Her focus was to address those talents in a way that empowers and motivates the learner to develop and mature both intellectually and spiritually.
We changed schools and Mrs Jenkins became Aiden’s teacher for both 1st and 2nd grade. This move was the best decision our family could have made.
Mrs. Jenkins is an excellent teacher. Not only is she proficient in the academic aspects of what needs to be taught, she is patient, intuitive, compassionate, creative and sees each learner with all the gifts they have available to learn. She taps into those gifts and finds a way to bring them out. She is nurturing and builds their confidence in taking on new topics of concepts to expand their learning. Along the way, Aiden’s dad and I were always aware of any challenges and successes that Aiden faced. She was firm when needed and held him accountable to being an active participant in his learning. She was the best resource we could imagine in preparing Aiden for the person he was becoming. For the longest time, he referred to her as his “school mom”. As a parent, that speaks volumes. Her aptitude, strong faith and partnership has been invaluable to us. I consider her to be an irreplaceable part of our village.
Today, Aiden is finishing up 8th grade and looking forward to high school in the fall. Academically, he has been on the honor roll for each 9 week period since 1st grade. His most recent progress report has him with all A’s. He is confident, articulate and still says that Mrs Jenkins is his favorite teacher overall. I wholeheartedly concur.
I would highly encourage anyone to walk this education and development journey with her. Your child will benefit tremendously from the experience.”
